Rooftop Bars in Dubai not to be missed
So as the weather is finally cooling down and rooftops bars are my favorite place to be (Alcohol and views whats not to love!) I thought I would share my favorite rooftop bars in Dubai. I’m sure most of which you will know but I have also throw in some hidden gems and researched new ones that have cropped up ready for this winter.
If you have lived in Dubai for some time (like me 7 years!) then I’m sure you will have been to all, if not most of these in this list but if you happen to stubble across this post and you are visiting then please make sure that you visit at least of these durning your stay.
1. Mercury Lounge
Location: Four Seasons Resort Jumeirah
The jewel of the Four Seasons, this chic rooftop bar in Dubai is located on the sixth floor, overlooking Burj Khalifa and the Dubai skyline on one side, and Burj Al Arab and the sea on the other so in terms of views it has it all! I suggest checking out the cocktails and the shish (both of which are very unique) but be warned the prices are very high!)
Check out our stay and full review of the Four Seasons here
2. 40 Kong
Location: H hotel
What list of roof top bars in Dubai would be complete with out this on? A great place to hang out with friends. Check out my full review here
3. The Rooftop Terrace & Sports Lounge
Location: One&Only Royal Mirage, Al Sufouh Road
This is an old time favorite of mine I just LOVE the Arabian intimate decor, with majlis-style seating, atmospheric lanterns, and a delicious mezze menu. Located in one of Dubai’s most luxurious beachfront hotels. Im writing this now and planing when I can go back. Perfect for a romantic date!
Location: Al Qasr Hotel, Madinat Jumeirah
This place is a bit tricky to find tucked round the corner from the main Madinat stretch in Al Qasr but its worth the effort – an Arabian themed bar with a huge terrace, offering waterways views and decorated like a desert escape. This one is perfect to visit with family as the vibes are very chilled and I have always managed to get a seat when I’ve been.
5. Cielo Sky Lounge
Location: Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, Dubai Creek
If it weren’t for the occasional abra drifting into view, you could almost believe you were in Ibiza at this blue and white bar perched on top of the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. A bit far out (for me anyway) but somewhere that defiantly feels “like your not in Dubai” – you know what I mean? Im sure we have all said it “Ohhh this place is so cool, I really don’t feel like I’m in Dubai” (The best example of this for me is Club Vista Mare on the Palm)
6. Iris Dubai
Location: The Oberoi, Business Bay
The terrace at Iris is one of the best-looking spots in Business Bay, and it’s home to some of the best tasting cocktails too. There’s live music every Tuesday and Sunday, and the Friday brunch is well worth checking out – it lasts for five hours, people.
7. Pure Sky Lounge
Location: Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Residence, The Walk at JBR
This modern looking bar is situated on the 35th floor of the Hilton’s residential JBR tower, offering great views out to the Palm and beyond. Nice hangout spot for pre or post dinner drinks. The night brunch is also an amazing deal and the drinks are constantly flowing the I’m not going to lie the food is pretty crap and not much of it so eat before!
8. Maya Lounge
Location: Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa, Dubai Marina
Maybe the best bit about this terrace and outdoor lounge bar areas is the Mexican below – I just love this restaurant fed by fiery Latino beats and fiercer mixed drinks. Well worth a look.
Read my review on the brunch here and an overview of the other restaurants in the Le Royal Meridien
Location: Jumeirah Beach Hotel
Surely all you expats have been here right? The awesome twilight views from the 25th floor terrace of this bar win me over every time.
10. The Dek on 8
Location: Media One Hotel, Dubai Media City
I guess this is Media City’s best known bar that is kept ticking over with a healthy blend of post work drinkers, one-off art events and weekend club nights. Its just laid back, cool and fun!
Location: JBH hotel
OK not really a rooftop but its a must visit if you have not been already. A bar pretty much in the middle of the ocean – I mean yes please – the name says it all.
12. Siddharta Lounge
Location: Grosvenor House Dubai, Dubai Marina
Again not really a rooftop bar but it is on top a roof! oh-so-chic Siddharta is now firmly established on the city’s nightlife map, its twinkly rooftop often found bustling with trendy types.
Location: The Address Marina
A large terrace with a rooftop bar/restaurant home to one of Dubai’s biggest and most luxurious rooftop pools is always going to be a great shout day or night. Even though you’re only on the 4th floor, you get a really cool view over the skyscrapers and Dubai Marina. The terrace has a nice vibe, the drinks are great and so is the food. Make sure to check out theBBQ plate, it’s amazing.
14. Pier 7
Pier 7 has to be include in this list and while the only actual roof top is Atelier M the other 6 restaurants all have terraces with the same amazing marina view. So im not going to be selective and chose one of the 6 but suggest you go and try them all!
So living in Dubai, for like I said 7 years, I feel like I need to share this knowledge of some rooftop bars in Dubai that won’t be top of any top 10 list, maybe just because they don’t belong to 5* hotels but definitely worth a visit.
1. Tamanya Terrace
Location: Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City
Maybe I just love this place because it brings back some nostalgic amazing memories when I used to work in Media City and this is where we would all go post Thursday at work (or the odd Tuesday for ladies night) These nights where never planned so always the best! Check out the eclectic beats being served up by Dust and Electric Days you will find it packed.
Location: Raffles Dubai, Oud Metha
Not an obvious or well now choice. The space which was once (the Chinese bar) Red Lounge has now been incorporated into (the Japanese restaurant) Tomo – but no matter, this venue has kept the fantastic outdoor terrace open to drinkers, so still qualifies for this list. Expect some of the best views in town.
3. Chill RoofTop
Location: Royal Ascot Hotel, Bur Dubai
An very unique, panorama view of Bur Dubai’s low-rise apartment blocks. Very laid-back where you can lounge around on comfy day beds while listening to music from one of the resident DJs it also serves surprisingly good Mediterranean-inspired bar snacks. Its nice because its not your typical “Dubai crowd” I think you all know what I mean!
Location: Kempinski, Sheikh Zayed Road
I was genuinely shock and very impressed when I first visited here – very unexpeced. The outside terrace is a relaxed, comfortable city lounge. They also have a big screen that plays old school black and white movies so definitely worth checking this out for something different but get their early enough to nab yourself a seat.
5. Estrellas Skyline Lounge
A bit further out
1. Al Sarab Rooftop Lounge
Location: Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa
This hotel is what I would call an Dubai Classic – in the sense it has been around for a while, its authentic Arabic style and it offers a wide choice of dinning options and bars.
I visited the bar for a wedding – check out my post and pictures here
New to the Mix
Despite the fact it only had it’s grand opening just a few months ago, as soon as you visit and discover this DIFC gem you’ll completely understand the high ranking. Bali-esque decor, a varied bites menu at very un-DIFC prices and a shisha menu that goes beyond the norm…this is the bar to watch for 2017
Location: M Hotel Downtown by Millenium in Business Bay
As a funky addition to the Business Bay skyline, this terrace and lounge caters to all your favourite moods. Come to chill, come to party, or just dine under the stars. Another one where the key is in the name.
Opening next month (but when does anything in Dubai open on time!) is the Penthouse rooftop at Five Palm Jumeriah – I have be told to expect Nikki Beach type vibes but 50 floors up! Sign me up.
We found this out after to speaking to concierge durning our last visit to the hotel – post below
