We are looking at the Top Trends for Spring

Some trends really take over each season, we’ve rounded up the 8 most important top trends for Spring thus far. We can’t get enough of ruffles, long romantic white dresses (preferably silky) are gorgeous, straw bags are no longer restricted to beach days, gingham is on all kinds of clothing, finding your perfect stripes, the amazing vacation bold prints, oh those ruffle sleeves and last but not least the wastepaper bag pants.

1. RUFFLES

Gone are the days when ruffles were reserved for young girls. Brands such as Brandon Maxwell and Alexander McQueen adopted the supersweet finish to their spring 2017 collection, adding a touch of romance to an otherwise simple look. Expect to see ruffles everywhere from sweater sleeves to skirt hems.

2. WHITE MAXI DRESS

What is it about a white maxi dress that feels so comfy, but looks so fancy? This warm weather staple can take you from a day on the patio to an evening soirée.

3. STRAW BAGS

This spring/summer you need to ditch your usual leather over the shoulder number for a straw bag, basket or clutch for an instantly cool and on-trend look.

4. GINGHAM

Red, yellow or blue? Whatever colour dress you wore for primary school, it was probably made from gingham. However, if you thought your gingham-wearing days were behind you then think again – it’s making a huge comeback as one of this year’s biggest spring/summer trends. The 90s print was seen all over the S/S17 runways and is now flooding stores in forms of tops, trousers, dresses, skirts and even shoes.

5. Vacation Prints

Spring’s florals are bright, splashy, and on vacation. The saturated, tropical-feeling motifs find their way onto everything, giving you those getaway vibes, even when you’re trapped at home.

6. Stripes

The classic print rules for Spring, but it’s got a contemporary update in knits, sheer fabrics, and even asymmetrical cuts. And if you prefer a more traditional look, you might just want to snag new suit separates with the must-have pattern.

7. Statement Sleeves

Off-the-shoulder tops were popular last summer and it seems people are excited to bring the trend back: Pinterest saw a 564 percent search increase this year. However, the style isn’t the only way to jazz up your look. Bell sleeves have been blowing up on the platform since the new year, and now Pinterest predicts sleeve slits, which we saw on the runway at Hellessy, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Michael Kors, will have their moment this spring.

8. Paperbag-Waist Pants

This runway trend, which is up 682 percent in search, is easier to pull off than you might think. Style high-waisted pants with a simple blouse to look sophisticated and professional—just like the models at Marissa Webb’s spring 2017 show. Paperbag-waist pants are also perfect if you’re looking to jazz up a minimalist top. Take, for example, the outfit Sienna Miller was recently spotted in: Her oversized trousers make a major statement paired with a plain black sweater.
