How To Pull Off A Slip Dress – Inspiration taken from the streets
Slip dresses aren’t just for the boudoir anymore. The slinky dress is having a major moment this summer with style-setters wearing it every which way, from layered with a T-shirt over it, to solo with minimal accessories.
How To pull off a slip dress is best done by layering – Here, see five ways to wear the slip dress like a stylish showgoer this fall.
1. Layer over a Tee Shirt/Top
2. Layer under a jumper
3. Layer with Jeans
4. Layer with a jacket/cardi
5. Wrap a jacket/shirt around the waist
Or simply rock it on its own!
Call the slip dress the staple that will never die. In seasons past, it has resurfaced as a bedroom piece, a slinky summer date-night go-to, and now, as we just saw on some of this season’s best street style, the perfect transitional look for fall. At New York Fashion Week, showgoers remixed the classic T-shirt-and-slip combination with pattern-clashing or hard-and-soft combinations. Take a bias knit slip that was worn over a tie-dyed shirt for a jolt of quirk. Playing up the boudoir vibes of the dress, Instagram’s Eva Chen took a lace-trimmed teddy from night to day by throwing it over a long tunic. And yes, you can give those plain white layering tees a rest as we head into chillier temperatures: For autumn, a mock-neck shirt looks just as good underneath a silk slip.
