Review on our short stay to the Four Seasons Dubai

Late last year my husband and I stayed at the Four Seasons Dubai for one night, his little treat to me as I had been working very hard (isn’t he sweet.) Anyway I have just came across the photos and thought it was well worth my time to post a review.

A best of both world’s location, right on Jumeirah beach and just 15 minutes by car to the Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest building) and the Dubai Mall (the world’s largest shopping mall). The airport (with the world’s largest terminal, naturally) is a 20-minute drive away.

Style & character

Everything about the Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach has been designed to keep you in situ, from the dusky pink low-rise buildings which lend a sense of place, to the colourful flower and bird-filled gardens, to the private perfectly-raked white-sand beach, to the touch-button waiter service at your poolside lounger. Elsewhere in this bejewelled bubble, there’s the Pearl Spa staffed by therapists from India, Thailand and Indonesia, tennis courts with Eastern European ex-pros for instructors, and a clutch of 10 fabulous restaurants and lounges. Fly and flop doesn’t get much fancier than this.

All of the hotel’s 237 spacious rooms have balconies which either face directly onto the beach or out over the downtown skyline – book a room on this side if you want to see the twinkling Burj Khalifa piercing the night sky. The cream, butter and blue interiors are subdued (perhaps even too safe) but are also satisfyingly plush with sink-in soft carpets, walk-in wardrobes, plump sofas and vast snowy beds. The flash bathrooms with their metallic tiles, stand-alone tubs and covetable Etro amenities are a highlight, as are the complimentary chocolates, cakes and sweets that appear in the rooms every afternoon, as if by magic.

Food & drink

The beachside Sea Fu with its designer good looks, sexed-up Mediterranean and Asia dishes and crashing wave soundtrack is the perfect spot for romance. The indoor/outdoor Suq is a bubbly family-friendly affair serving breakfast, lunch and dinner from busy open kitchens. While still to come at the time of my visit, were two restaurants from Jean Georges Vongerichten, an outpost of Coya, a Turkish restaurant, and a snazzy nightclub, all housed in a satellite building adjacent to the main hotel. I’m expecting Mercury, with its killer city views, silver ball-shaped bar and razor-sharp staff to hit every Top 10 list of rooftop bars in 2015 – it’ll certainly be on mine.

Access for guests with disabilities?

Yes. Little ‘uns are greeted with mini bathrobes and slippers, tear-free toiletries, thoughtful kid’s menus and colouring books and puzzles. Toy camels appear on the beds at turn-down.
