Some tips and inspiration on how to wear culottes to work
One year on from its grand revival, the culotte is still going strong. Do you dig them?
It took me a while, to wear them at work, I wasn’t sure if they where “appropriate” but when I decide to do a bit of experimenting I changed my mine.

But is their a styling trick you should know about? I like to coordinate tailoring to create a streamlined silhouette.
If your living in the cold (unlike us in Dubai) for a relaxed alternative to this season’s ‘city slicker’, try tucking in a fine polo-neck knit and slipping on smart loafers. Classic, block colours make for a clean, minimalist look and will never date. Until the weather cools, a pointy, embellished flat and boxy shirt (untucked) will also look chic with a lightweight navy or black culotte. Ankles are surprisingly hardy; layering is best kept up top with sleeveless blazers and knitwear.
Four key styles of how to wear culottes to work
1. For the minimalist looking for a fuss-free work uniform, update your polo-neck arsenal to include quality grey hues (far more flattering on the skin than black) and team with loafers or brogues. Eg below left: Roksanda tweed culottes, £785, Net-a-Porter
2. Rich autumnal shades are best suited to woollen fabrics. Contrast with a cream blouse and decorative pointy flats or heels to elongate. Eg above right:Valentino wool culottes, £690, Stylebop
3. Pick a classic colour (navy, grey) that will match blazers you have in your wardrobe. Button up, with a simple camisole underneath, and add a tall ankle boot for a modern on-the-go look. Eg below left: Wide crop trousers, £140, Whistles
4. Day-to-night dressers should gravitate to deep colours and jacquard fabrics for a luxe feel. Keep it casual with a plain crew-neck for day, then dress up with statement earrings (just one gives edge) in the evening. Eg above right: Erika Cavallini Semi Couture pleated culottes, £244, Farfetch
